Yoga means to yoke or unite mind, body, and spirit tuning into the interconnectedness of all things by meditation.
Meditation means reducing thought waves in our mind. It is a mistake to believe that meditation means stopping your thoughts. We reduce thought waves simply by focusing our thoughts on one thing, in yoga we often meditate on our breath, visualizing something, focusing on physical sensations of the body or on holding postures. In my yoga classes I use the vibrations of a Tibetan singing bowl and tinsha cymbals to meditate on, as well as breath work, the aroma of essential oils, touch and postures among other means of meditation.
